Project Background
This project involved a full interior refresh of a rental apartment. The property had experienced general wear and tear over time, including worn carpet and dated finishes in the kitchen and bathroom.
The property owner wanted to improve the overall presentation of the apartment to prepare it for its next chapter while keeping the upgrade practical and cost-effective. Rather than completing small repairs over time, a full refresh was carried out in one coordinated project to improve the property’s condition and reduce ongoing maintenance.
DCW Services was engaged to manage and complete the interior refresh, coordinating multiple areas of work to ensure the property was ready for the next tenancy within a short timeframe.
Our Interior Refresh Process
1. Assessment & Planning
We carried out an initial inspection of the property to identify areas requiring repair, repainting, flooring replacement, and lighting upgrades. Works were planned and scheduled in the correct order to ensure an efficient workflow and minimise downtime between tenancies.
2. Surface Prep & Repairs
Walls, ceilings, trims, and doors were prepared for painting, including patching, sanding, and general surface repairs. Proper preparation ensured a clean and long-lasting paint finish.
3. Installation & Upgrades
New carpet was supplied and installed throughout the apartment. Kitchen cabinetry was repainted to improve appearance without requiring a full kitchen replacement. Bathroom areas were refreshed, and new downlights were installed to improve lighting and overall presentation.
4. Final Inspection
All areas were inspected, finishing work was completed, and the property was prepared for handover ready for new tenants.

Challenges & How We Solved Them
Limited Access & Material Transport
The apartment was located in a CBD building without lift access, which made transporting materials such as carpet, tools, and equipment more time-consuming. To manage this, materials and equipment were scheduled and transported in stages to keep the project moving efficiently while minimising disruption within the building.
Fire Alarm Risk During Works
Painting, sanding, and installation works in apartment buildings can sometimes trigger sensitive fire alarm systems. We contacted building management to request temporary isolation; however, this was not possible. To manage the risk, detectors were carefully protected and work was carried out in controlled stages with additional care taken to minimise dust and fumes.
